The first time we used Just baby, my daughter was 6 months.  She is now 17 months and we are still using the fruit pouches.  Most mornings we eat oatmeal and one of our favorite things to add is the Just Prunes made by Plum.  This is what she considers a sweet treat and it always puts a smile on her face, Mommy too!

Full time Driver/Warehouse Assistant Position:

Candidate must have a clean driving record, be able to lift 50 pounds, be a team player and be able to multitask.

Job responsibilities will include assisting in basic store maintenance in all store locations, assisting with basic shipping and receiving duties in the warehouse as well as delivering product on a daily basis to store locations.

A glowing Pink spent the day snapping photos with her mother, Judy Moore, at the Santa Monica pier in California. Reports that Pink and husband Carey Hart were expecting surfaced in mid-November, and the singer confirmed the pregnancy a week later on 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show.'

Now there is certainly no question that Pink is expecting. The very pregnant photographer-in-training only has a few weeks left -- the baby is due this spring!

The Woombie – it’s like a big hug!

When I first heard about the Woombie and how it’s designed I was very excited. What a brilliant idea! It truly solves the typical swaddling dilemma of how to keep the swaddle secure, while at the same time creating that familiar, soothing feeling for the baby of being in the womb. Get it, Woombie?

A Washington University study has scientifically proven what parents have instinctively known for centuries; most infants sleep better when swaddled. They wake less frequently and sleep more soundly, aiding in important brain development. Think of sleep as nutrition for baby’s brain.

Coming from a strong background in infant mental health, my hesitation about some of the newer swaddles that pin the babies’ arms down at their sides is, that the ideal position for their limbs, not only for soothing but also for neurological organization and regulation, is to bring them into what we call their “midline.” Picture a baby in the fetal position or you in “child’s pose” at your yoga class. Bringing everything to the center helps what Dan Siegel, MD, author of “Parenting from the Inside Out, “ calls the middle prefrontal cortex of the brain to reach an optimal state of integration. From this state, your baby is better able to access moving to either sleep or a calm awake state. This is what we mean by “regulation.”

Additionally, pediatric orthopedists are more likely to support a swaddle in a natural position, with elbows bent, hips and knees flexed for proper joint development. This is the exact position the Woombie creates.

& keeps "busy" hands away from face & pacifier
• No loose blankets to ride up and cause potential suffocation

• May see a marked improvement in colic symptoms.
• Prevents overheating, which has been linked to SIDS.
• Adaptable for one or two arms or legs free swaddling, handy during transitioning (see photos below).

Important Safety Rule: An easy way to know when to immediately remove any type of swaddle is as soon as your baby can roll in either direction. Swaddling is a wonderful temporary way to help babies regulate and sleep better during the early months when we have to put them on their backs to sleep. Once they can roll, we want them to be able to roll in both directions at will. Our ultimate goal for them is to be free to move around the bed and find their preferred sleep position.

When my now 14 year old was a baby, all we had was flannel receiving blankets to swaddle. Once my son “broke out” of that, it was over. I wish I’d had the Woombie, a new and exciting addition to the Pump Station and Nurtury’s continual quest to bring you the best and the smartest products.

Breast Pumps Now Deductible, IRS Says

In good news for nursing mothers, the IRS just announced that breast pumps and other "supplies that assist lactation" may be deductible medical expenses or can be reimbursed under flexible-spending accounts or health-savings accounts.

The ruling is effective immediately and expenses can be used for 2010 returns, an IRS spokeswoman said.

Until now, as we've posted before, nursing mothers couldn’t use flexible-spending accounts to pay for breast pumps and other nursing supplies because the IRS said that breastfeeding didn’t have enough health benefits to qualify as medical or preventative care.

Now, though, the IRS says that like obstetric care, nursing supplies are "for the purpose of affecting a structure or function of the body of the lactating woman." Breast pumps and attachments and "other related equipment and supplies that are used in breastfeeding" may be eligible, the IRS spokeswoman said, but "before claiming the medical deduction, taxpayers should assess whether an item is used primarily for extracting milk or for other purposes," she added.  More guidance may be forthcoming in the IRS's revised publication 502, Medical and Dental Expenses, available at IRS.gov.

The new ruling means that families can use pretax funds from their flexible spending accounts and health savings accounts for pumps and other supplies.  Medical expenses, meanwhile, are not deductible until they exceed 7.5 percent of adjusted gross income. Breast pumps typically cost more than $200 and, along with supplies, can run as high as $1,000 in the first year of a baby's life, Reuters reports*.

American Academy of Pediatrics, which encourages new mothers to breastfeed and had long-sought the IRS ruling, praised today’s decision, saying the new tax treatment makes "breastfeeding a more practical option for new and working mothers."
